Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on the 26th of March, 1991. She is an American singer-songwriter and the first artist signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. Her debut EP Pho, released which was released on 21 October 2016 was released on Dreamville Records. She began to gain notoriety. The album that she released as her debut studio album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet back in 2012 after she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography In 2013. Ari Lennox continued to upload her songs online throughout 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes and on Sweat It Out on the 21st of July, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's reference. Later in the year, her music was circulating throughout Dreamville. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. She was featured on the album collaboratively titled Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The singer released Pho, her debut album on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox was a guest on J. Cole's Change as well as performing as part of the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour as opening artist. In 2018, she was able to be a guest on two tracks with her labelmates EarthGang and EarthGang on Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video came out on the 5th. She released her second single called Grampa on the 9th of November. Two more singles were released on the 11th of November Pedigree and No One. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby later made appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. The singer released the single to celebrate her debut album titled Creed II on 26 February 2019. The track was accompanied by an accompanying music video that debuted on February 20 2019 and surpassed 3 million views on YouTube in its first seven days. In support of the track, she toured with 6LACK in December of 2018 for their From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
